For the first time in my life, I sat through an entire Oscars broadcast. I'm extremely happy that The Lord of the Rings finally received the recognition it deserved. I thought every award was dead-on, except one. Bill Murray should've won Best Actor. Sean Penn is just too big of an idiot to deserve it.
Well, back to my paper!

Wow… could you ask for a better day? 65 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. All this beauty after four days of pure cold and rain. Ahhhh…
On top of that, my news story doesn't start until 7p.m. which means I'm killing time doing homework at home.

There's nothing much happening today.
Got two papers and other homework due Monday… trying to get motivated to do them.
Happy birthday to my great friend, Justin. He turned 22 today.
Picked up “James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing” for the ol' Xbox. Sweet game.
No comment on the gay wedding issue. If you know my beliefs, you know what I feel. However, I do wish some people would calm down and stop acting like children about it.
I'm glad to see “The Passion” did so well on its opening day. Maybe it will change some lives for the better. Even though I know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, I already know it will affect me when I see it.
Clear Channel is trying to remove “all things indecent” from the airwaves. On one hand, I commend them for that. On the other hand, they might be trying to regain favor with the industry/public because they're such a stinking “monopoly” in the radio world. I read a recent article in Broadcasting & Cable magazine where a good number of people showed up at an FCC hearing in San Antonio (CC's home base) to protest against the company for not treating their markets like local communities. It's about time the public realized that.
On that final note, CBS 42 in B'ham is having an interview tonight with Ken from “Beaner and Ken (if you don't live in the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area, they're a morning show that my now-former radio company drools over and gives the world).” They're going to talk to him about indecency on the air. How pathetic. The one guy they talk to is the one who has an infatuation with penis jokes and everything else perverse on-air. I've never seen a more immature person in their mid-30s.
That's all for now. Have a great night!

I feel like my interview went well today. The president of the radio company was really nice, and I had a great time talking to him. He asked me which market I would like to live in, as well as if I would be interested in being talent/management. This company would probably want me to do some sales as well, which is fine because that's where the real money is in broadcasting. I guess I could do it since my minor is marketing. He also asked if I would be interested in hosting a morning show on talk radio (he used to work for WSB in Atlanta). So, it went well, but I have to see if I'm offered anything. If so, I'll need to see what the money is and what the stations look like. Amy likes the markets they're in, but with all things, we'll have to wait to see what the next step is. Updates abound!

Tonight was rather unusual in my news analysis class. We were having this roundtable discussion about diversity. We had three guest speakers (one being the always awesome Reverend Tony Humphries… check my site's friends page to see him) as usual. Well, one of them was a journalism professor whom I've seen around from time-to-time. He's always seemed like a very nice guy, so I formally meet him tonight… after he walks into class, spots me, and then (loudly whispered) asks if I'm who he thinks I am. When we has asked to talk, the first thing he said was, “Brock, I want your autograph.” It shocked the mess out of me. I've only been asked that one other time by an adult. Anyhow, he said that in front of the whole class. I didn't know how to respond, so everyone started laughing. My buddy Justin then picks up a quiz we just got back and told him he could have mine. The professor said he'd always seen me on the news and wanted to meet me in person. I still didn't know what to think about that, so I just played it off. Well, after class, he comes up to me and asked if I would sign a sheet of paper for him. So, I obliged and asked him why he wanted it. He then asked if I was trying to get to a bigger market. I said of course, and he proceeded to tell me that he enjoys the stories I do and told me I'd do well in a large city. He said he wanted to get my autograph before I got “big.”
If you know me, I'm not the type of person to have an ego about my job. I'm just “Average Joe.” However, it was nice to be complimented like that. I don't think I'll ever make it big, but it made me feel good that I made someone else happy.
Speaking of jobs… I've got an interview tomorrow (Friday) with the owner of a radio company. I'm not sure if I want to dive back into radio without fully seeing if I can make it in TV. Money is about the only thing that will make me consider radio again. If he likes me, hopefully he'll pony up the dough. Even then… Amy and I still have to seek God's will in it. I'll keep you updated!
