I promise, I'm not going to get a big head or a big ego over this. However, I will admit I'm a little shocked, but a whole lot more honored.
Amy and I just got back from the Alabama Associated Press annual convention near Gulf Shores (Orange Beach). I can't believe what happened there. I can't describe how I felt, but I was pretty elated and dazed. Forget the beating around the bush… here's the award:

Wow… after just one year in TV news. I am truly humbled and honored. I didn't see this one coming. Let me explain the Class AAA. You have your Class A stations (Birmingham, Mobile, etc.). Next is your Class AA (Montgomery, Huntsville, etc.). Finally, your Class AAA (Tuscaloosa, Dothan, etc.). I'm in Tuscaloosa finishing up my degree at UA. So naturally, I'm working for the only local station. However, my category could be about to change when I graduate in May.
I was approached by at least four other stations while at the convention, two of them after I won the award. It's spring break, and I'm supposed to be taking it easy. Well, I am now going to speak or visit with three of those four by mid-week. Amy and I wanted to stay in the South, and that just may happen after all.
It's out of our hands now and in God's. All we can do is pray and see what's offered where. I'm not giving out the locations just yet, but I will keep you updated!

Spring Break is finally here. I finished my last class at 12:30 today. I am officially on vacation for a week. This is my very first true spring break. I haven't had one since high school 10 years ago. Even in college, I've had to work every single one of them. Since Apex let me go (they've since asked me back and I said no), I have not a care in the world this week. Amy and I are heading to Gulf Shores tonight for the Associated Press convention. After that, I'll visit Mom for a couple of days, then back here. I will actually work on papers over the break so I'm not so hurried for my final month of college!
Have a great weekend… Amy and I will be on the beach!

As always, I won't say anything as of now, but I've started talking to a news director about a possible job as an anchor! I have no television anchor experience, but I do have some in radio. The big problem is they want someone now, but alas… 'tis a month and a half until I graduate. Maybe they'll hold out.
I've also made some tweaks to my personal site. The news director I spoke with today said he figured out my website from my e-mail address and went to it. Thankfully, he liked it. However, I took the page that contains the Java version of this journal down for now. I also took down all political banners and that nasty version of Auburn's fight song. After all, we journalists are supposed to be unbiased. Since he got the site from my resume, I decided it would be in the best interest of future job inquiries to take away anything that might sway their decision to the negative. I mean, I'm a conservative in a huge ocean of liberals.
I'll bring this journal back to the site once I have a job.
Speaking of jobs, please keep praying for us. I've sent out 15 tapes so far. I've got a couple of bites, but I'm waiting for the big one. Amy and I will keep you updated!

The wonderful and peaceful religion of Islam
Flame me if you want to on this, but almost every reported attack since 9/11 has been by Islamic terrorists. Find me proof if I'm wrong.
