Taking a break

March 8th, 2004 by Brock

I'm taking a break from writing a paper. I've got a four-page essay due on Embattled Courage. It's a book on courage in the Civil War. Pretty good, but boring. Rather be doing something else, especially with midterms this week. I shouldn't have procrastinated, but that's me. I work better under pressure.

I've been doing a lot of job searches. I only had three blank VHS tapes, so I'm waiting on a new shipment. I found a bulk of 50 10-minute tapes and covers for around $40. They're Fuji, so they're decent. I sent out the three tapes I had with my demo stories on them. I won't say where for now just to keep the possible competition down. I'm happy with the choices of markets so far. As much as Amy doesn't want to leave the Southeast, I'm about to ship some more out west. I thought about sending a couple out to my old Air Force stomping grounds in Central Texas. Then I realized… I hated that place for a reason. Everything's bigger in Texas. Especially egos. I was there during the Dallas Cowboys unstoppable run in the mid-90s. That was one of the most unbearable times in my life. Have you seen the Snickers commercial with the Cowboys fan taunting the New York player? Yep… an accurate depiction.

Well, back to the paper. The length isn't bad, but when you've only skimmed the book…
