As you probably know, I'm in talks with three stations (2 TV, 1 radio). I just got an e-mail from the one I really want. Here's a copy (names omitted to protect the innocent)…

Brock,
With everything that's been going on around here, I've just now moved full
speed into the selection process for the two reporter positions I currently
have open.
You remain a strong candidate.
I plan on reaching a decision on both of these positions before Thursday of
next week.
I'll keep you in the loop as best I can as I get some other candidates
through the doors.
Take care and we'll be talking.

You might wonder why I'm keeping the locations a secret. I just don't want to jinx myself.
That being said, I just got a phone call from a small radio station group. They want me to interview with them again for a possible morning show host gig. They have stations all over the Southeast, so I don't even know where they'd send me yet. I interview with them May 12, two days after graduation. However, I'm supposed to hear something Monday from one of the TV stations I'm in talks with. That's the one I hope really works out. But, if it doesn't, I'm still talking to one other TV station and now a radio group.
I'm kinda digging this…

Our new sanctuary at church was dedicated this morning. I had a starring role since I voiced and pieced together the history video. I've really enjoyed working with Chuck and Mr. McGee on that. Funny… after these past six months, it's over.
After that, I went to work where I packaged a story about a 20-year-old soldier coming back from Fallujah, Iraq. He got married just two weeks before he was deployed. Poor guy… He might have to go back at the beginning of next year.
Then, the big event. A two-car wreck on McFarland Boulevard that ended tragically. A car and an SUV hit each other head on. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital. No word on his condition. However, the driver of the SUV was killed… and I saw him. Sitting there in the driver's seat, crushed to death just a few feet away. He was the first dead person I've seen outside of a funeral. Dad, being a state trooper, has always shown me videos and pictures of accidents to try and teach me about the dangers of speeding and reckless driving. Those were nothing compared to what I saw today. I don't get spooked by many things, but seeing him… wondering if he was a father, a husband… put my mortality into perspective.
The only thing I could think about was Amy. What if that had been me? What if that had been her? I can't fathom life without her. I don't want to imagine it. It's too horrible of a thought. So, at the end of every day, I thank God we have each other. Life can be taken from you in the blink of an eye.
Enough morbid thoughts for now, but you have to ponder how you live your life and what you take for granted sometimes.
