Now for the real update…

April 1st, 2004 by Brock

I got back last night from visiting Mom. I had a good time with her. However, she has been experiencing her dizzy spells a lot more often now. It worries me because the doctors can't seem to figure out what's wrong. She doesn't have vertigo or anything like that, so…? She tries to stay happy.

While I was visiting her, I made a couple of trips to some TV stations yesterday. I had good interviews with both of them. To be honest, there were some things about both of them that impressed me, but then didn't impress me, either. That's to be expected out of any job. However, the station that might pony up the money I want has suspended ties with the Associated Press for now. It's a budget decision (and one that can return by the end of the year), but that means I might not be eligible for another AP award next year. I know that seems pathetic, but hey… I tasted sweet victory last weekend. :-) I'm trying to get in touch with a news director from a larger market, but he has yet to return my calls. He said “call me Wednesday,” and I did. I hope to talk to him today and hopefully get an interview tomorrow while I'm free. Next week it's back to the books. Anyway, I'm making an anchor tape today at my station to send to the guys I talked to yesterday.

That's about it for now. It's one month and 10 days until graduation! Only 1,500 more papers to write between now and then!
