Friday night update

March 4th, 2005 by Brock

Greetings on this fine, clear sky night.

Needless to say, it's been a rough few days. Amy and I are emotionally and mentally spent about losing the baby. We've had numerous friends and family members who have gone through this, but after happening to us it's all clear how much pain you go through. The doctor told us about 1 in 10 women experience this. We had no idea it was this common.

Amy and I sincerely thank each and every one of you that have written, called, or visited. You'll never know how much it's helped us and just how much we appreciate it. Be it just a small comment, or a lengthy call. Every word has meant so much. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Amy's doing better than I thought she would. She is doing well physically. When she came out of surgery yesterday, she just looked at me and said, “I've been pregnant for 10 weeks, and now I'm nothing at all.” She had tears in her eyes, and that caused me to do the same. Just like the doctor said, though… “One-to-two months and you should be pregnant again if all goes well.” Very comforting words. We're now just looking at this as a small delay to the little one we want so badly. He just warned us to be emotionally ready for another pregnancy.

I really don't want to elaborate on the situation further, but just know how much we thank you for being there.

On to other, happier news:
-We have the dachshund! Chopper was a complete pain in the rear the first night we had him. He barked all stinking night. He's staying in the house because of the cold, but tonight he's doing better. I had to put a little “love tap” on his rear because he was trying to tear up the door gates. He's been an angel ever since. Whoever owned him last spoiled the mess out of him. He's fallen asleep several times in our laps. I promised I would play a long time with him tomorrow. Gotta make up for the punishment. :-)

-The new camera equipment will be here at the bureau Tuesday. My boss called me today to check up on us (haven't worked since Tuesday), and he told me to come down to the main station to train on it that day. It should be a lot like my personal camera. It's a pro camera as well, and shouldn't be too hard to relate. I'll get a set of gear, and Liz will, too. That will make it a lot easier for us to be two places at once if need be.

Well, that's enough updating for tonight. It's almost Saturday morning, and I'm sleepy. Getting nine hours of sleep in the last few days has not been pleasant. Sleep well to you, and we'll see you later.
