Super Bowl, Super Halftime

February 5th, 2007 by Brock

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve been a Prince fan for years. I’ll also be the first to say I haven’t liked everything he’s done, but he’s always been a great musician. The Super Bowl halftime show last night proved it.

I enjoyed the game for the most part. The Super Bowl is actually the only NFL game of the year I’ll watch from beginning to end. I can watch multiple college games in the fall, but I’ve never been really intrigued by the pro level.

The commercials this year for me were… eh. I could do without seeing Jessica Simpson chasing a pizza. Heck, the pizza has more intelligence than she could hope for. However, I did enjoy the first fan-made Doritos commercial.

I’ve really gotten off-track with this post. :-) Despite the game and the commercials, the highlight of the night for me was Prince. I’m glad the NFL tagged him to do it. He was controversial at one point in his career, but last night he was pure entertainment.

Kudos to you, NFL, but bigger kudos to Prince. Nothing flashy, except the great music. If you missed it, try to find the video. It’s worth it just to hear him sing Purple Rain on a purple stage… in the rain.
