You take the good, you take the bad
Today started well and early. I covered a disaster drill with local firemen and emergency officials. I wish they could’ve turned hoses on us because by 8:00 this morning I was sweating beyond belief. I love the South, but man I hate summer.
Because I came in early, I was allowed to leave early. I came home, and Amy had run to Best Buy to exchange something. I’m cooling off in the A/C, and Amy calls while crying. Some nimrod decided to dart across the road in front of her, and he plowed into the front of her car.
Thank God Amy and Alyssa are both okay. Thank God that guy is okay, too. It was his fault, so his insurance should foot the bill. Amy is able to drive her car, but the front bumper is gone, and the hood is all crinkled.
Amy was involved in another accident when she was seven weeks pregnant with Alyssa. That car was completely destroyed. She loves her new one, and hopefully they’ll be able to fix it up. Also, kudos to Officer Bak for taking care of her and the situation. Opelika police are good people. I love working with them often.
Everyone’s okay now. Amy’s still a little sad about her car, but it won’t be long before it’s fixed. I hope that guy doesn’t carry too much guilt, but I hope he’ll use this experience as a learning tool.
