According to our good friend, Richard Burkard, WLTZ is starting up a news department. The station is NBC-38 in Columbus, and it has been a few years since its last newscast. Welcome back to the race, WLTZ.
I had an interesting few quips about the Columbus news market with my dear buddy, Michael. With WLTZ coming into the picture, we came up with a couple of scenarios about ratings in the near future.
Maybe when I’m no longer part of this market, I can let my gleeful thoughts fly.

Yep, I’m plugging my Craigslist sale. Granted, there’s only one item, but I need to get it out of the house. It’s our old T.V. that works perfectly, just a minor chip in the screen. Interested?

In my time at WTVM, I’ve had a few stories go national. There was a story on a tornado that was picked up by The Weather Channel. I’ve had a couple of stories picked up by CNN, and I got the word yesterday of another shot.
NBC Nightly News contacted me, and they’re going to use some of our stuff from my Mexico trip. The story will focus on Soles4Souls, the non-profit shoe organization. I’m pretty excited about it!
Not bad for a country boy from southeast Alabama!

Here’s my quote of the day via Medialine:
“I collect cans and bottles on the side of the road. It isn’t as glamorous as TV news, but the pay is better and I can set my own hours,” from News Is Broken.

Let it be public knowledge… I hate covering murders.
I would rather be the reporter that tells interesting feature stories. I don’t mind hard news, but I really hate covering murders. I feel like slime for being around a family that’s grieving with a camera in my hand.
Maybe one day that will change.
