/sorry
I got into a very bad mood today at work and was not nice to everyone.
I apologize. I hope tomorrow will be better.

Good evening to you. Since I last posted a week ago, nothing much has gone on. I filmed the Bama game, and yes, they lost in OT to Georgia. Disappointed? Nope. I like UGA because I got to spend some time once with Mark Richt. He’s been one of my favorites since.
I’ve been in Columbus this week working on “Hometown Spirit.” It’s a game of the week feature we’re doing for area high school football teams. It’s been fun so far, but I’ll be glad when it’s over.
I can (sort of) smile about work again. One of my major disappointments is the station doesn’t spend a lot of money on the bureau. It’s an “out-of-sight, out-of-mind” deal. The main station went to a non-linear editing system this summer, but we were left out and told we wouldn’t get it until next year. Well, our news director got the ball rolling, and it’s being installed tomorrow.
That made me very happy. It’s nice to know someone might actually give a rip about us over here in east Alabama, unlike our old regime. We weren’t even included on the training back in the spring. I know how to use the system now, but that’s only because I’ve been to the station several times and used it. My co-worker, however, needs the training. She’s going to be up the creek tomorrow when they switch us over. Hopefully they’ll give her a crash course since I won’t be back in the bureau until next Wednesday.
I’m taking Monday and Tuesday off for “mental health” days. I’ve only taken two days of vacation this year, so it’s time. I don’t have to shoot football this weekend, so it’s mine, all mine. I’m burned out at work, and I wish I had more days to take off. I need a week at Christmas, though.
Being burned out isn’t as bad as it sounds, even though someone kept pushing my buttons in the newsroom today. They don’t know they were doing it, but don’t ask me to be your photographer when I’m a reporter just like you. I’m working on my own stuff, and just because I can shoot for myself doesn’t mean I’m willing to do it for others. Most days I would have said yes, but not with my current disposition. Learn to shoot for yourself. I did.
This person also expected me to provide answers for their story when, as I mentioned, I was working on my own stuff. I’m not the only one with a phone, so if you are able to make a call and know which agency can give you info, do so. It’s not the first time I’ve been asked to help in this manner. As I’ve been told a few times in the past, you’re a reporter. It’s your job to figure it out. Stop relying on me.
I’ve said too much. I don’t like brining work stuff out into the open, but I’m in that mood tonight. Sorry to make you read my complaints, even though I tried to start this out with praise. I’m going to do the best thing for me now.
I’m going to bed.

Yeah, you know where the title of this post came from.
What you may not know is this guy from Venezuela was apparently “killed” in a car accident. They started performing an autopsy on him when he woke up! They started making an incision on his face, but started bleeding. The medical examiners quickly stitched his face back up, and he was fine.
His wife was heading down to the morgue to identify him, only to find him awake in the corridor. Yikes… I can’t begin to imagine the shock of everyone involved.
Here’s the link: “Dead” man wakes up under autopsy knife

You won’t hear me say this often, but I’ve got to show some love to the local paper today. It had a great picture of Taylor Hicks at the Auburn-Mississippi State game on the front page. The headline was unexpected:
“Well… Halftime was fun”
Kudos!

We’re spending the night in Tuscaloosa since I had to film the Bama/Arkansas game. Man, oh, man… If you didn’t see the finish, you don’t know what you missed.
Bama should’ve defended the early lead they had, but they lost momentum and the Hogs came back. However, it had to be one of the most exciting finishes I’ve ever witnessed. Bama got the go-ahead TD with eight seconds left in the game, and the stadium was deafening. We’re 3-0, baby!
I won’t comment on other teams, but let’s just say it was a great day to be a Bama fan!
