Fender bender from the other gender

April 23rd, 2008 by Brock

My attitude is quite poor this morning.  I’ve been at work for 20 minutes, and my boss has managed to cheer me up without really knowing.  It all went south yesterday afternoon as I was sitting in traffic.

I was waiting in line at a red light when I glanced up in the mirror when I saw this car jolt forward.  The next thing I know, it plows into the back of me.  What I didn’t know is another car smashed into her.

I pull into the turn lane so I don’t block traffic, and the other two follow me.  I’m pretty steamed at that point, but get out of my car, look at the the (thankfully, very minor) damage to my back bumper and ask if everyone is okay.  My anger quickly disappears once I see the middle car had a young boy.  He was frightened, but I told him everything and everyone was okay.

I call my buddy at the P.D., and he takes care of everything.  After the officer shows up and makes his reports, we’re all free to leave.  It was then that I overhear the woman who caused the entire mess.

“I was fiddlin’ with my air conditioner.”

I got back into my car and got mad again.  It’s amazing to me how some people… actually, a lot of people… don’t pay the first bit of attention while they’re driving.  This stupid woman put me in a pretty foul mood that has lasted until this morning.

Thankfully, the only real damage I have to my car is a crumpled license plate.  I straightened it out when I got home, so I’m not going to file an insurance claim.  I’ll go pick up the report Friday, but that will be it for me.

I’m feeling a little better right now, and I have another golf lesson this afternoon.  That will make things all better.

As long as some ignorant redneck woman doesn’t hit me again…

So I went to see Avril…

April 18th, 2008 by Brock

Yeah, you read correctly.  I went to the Avril Lavigne concert in Atlanta tonight.  I had a great time despite the amount of pink and teenage girls everywhere.

Avril has always been one of my guilty pleasures.  She released her first single while I was in the radio biz, and I really enjoyed her stuff.  I have a list of concerts I want to attend, so I can now scratch this one off.

She is a great singer, especially live.  It wasn’t all hyper like many of her videos.  She sat down a bit, played piano and drums and didn’t do a whole lot of jumping around.

I had a great seat as you can witness by the pictures and video I’ve uploaded on the photos page.  I was almost at the corner of the stage.

One of the best moments for me was when she was doing a wardrobe change.  Her band broke into an instruments-only version of “Faint” by Linkin Park.  They did an awesome job with it!  It made me look even more forward to going back to Projekt Revolution in August!

Just another manic Wednesday

April 16th, 2008 by Brock

Not too much going on at the house tonight. Amy is on and off with how she physically feels. We’re looking forward to our second child, but man… I hate seeing her like this.

Work has been fairly busy these last couple of days. Tomorrow is the last day I work this week as Friday I’m going to Atlanta. I’m looking forward to the long weekend.

This blog is slowly becoming the main BrockP.com site. It’s so much easier to manage. I’ve added a photo page to the links up top. I transferred them over from the old photo gallery. I need to update them when I feel like it.

Not much else is going on. I’m very sleepy, so this should do it for the night. I’d love to get some feedback from you on the site, especially the photos page. Since I know this thing just gets TONS (yeah, right) of hits, I know the feedback will be pouring in. :-/

Have a great night! Viva weekend!

Another Saturday night, another baby!

April 12th, 2008 by Brock

It’s been an eventful week and a half. First off, for those who I may have missed, Amy and I are expecting our second child in December! Alyssa seems to be thrilled right along with us. :-)

Second, because of the new baby, we’re going to enclose our carport and make it into a bigger play/computer room. We’ll need the other guest room as a nursery, plus this will get all of Alyssa’s toys out of the living room. Score!

I’ve also imported almost every blog entry I’ve every made into this version. I downloaded all my old LiveJournal and Blogger archives into this site. Click the archives tab above, and enjoy the nostalgia! I don’t really remember anything I said back then, so forgive me for past thoughts. :-)

Work is going very well. I got my hands dirty in the Web Thursday and Friday. It’s nice to know I can still work under intense pressure. I haven’t really done that since I left the TV news biz.

I am moving forward with making this blog my permanent main site. If you typed in “www.brockp.com,” you can see it brought you here. I enjoyed building my personal site for the last nine years, but now that I work on Web sites every day at work, I’m not as willing to sit on this thing at home. This blog is easier to maintain, and I’ll throw all the family photos and stuff on here when I get the time. You won’t miss anything from the old main site.

Not too much else is going on. Home is hectic with Amy being very sick these days, but she’s a trooper. I’m having to help with Alyssa a little more these days, but that’s to be expected.

Have a wonderful night! I’ve got some baseball to play while Amy watches TV. It’s a rare quiet moment in the house, so we’re taking advantage of it.

Projekt Revolution… once more!

April 4th, 2008 by Brock

Last August I got to go with a couple of friends to see my favorite band, Linkin Park.  Well, Projekt Revolution is coming back to Atlanta in August… and I’ve got seats down front and near the stage!

Can we say, “bringing earplugs” to this one?  Oh, yes.  Loud… and awesome!
