First of all, thank you to everyone who has sent text messages, Facebook and e-mail replies. Granny died today just before 1:30 p.m. She was 91 and as vibrant as ever until a few months ago.
I love that little lady. She stood about 4’9″ tall and had the sweetest personality. The last month, though, has been really hard. She slipped downhill in a hurry and spent the last couple of weeks calling for her mother.
We made it down to Mom’s house tonight and have been trying to comfort her as much as possible. Mostly, we’ve just let her cry and talk about Granny’s final moments while she held her hand. The one thing I’m most amazed with is right before Granny slipped to Heaven, she got a smile on her face and went to be with Jesus.
You can’t tell me God’s not real. Granny saw Him and went home. Mom said she made many references in her last couple of days about seeing Heaven and our Christ. To know why she passed away with a smile gives me more comfort about her passing than anything.
Amy, Alyssa and I saw Granny for the last time on May 3, 2008. That was right before she began her really bad stages.
It’s going to be a long couple of days with the funeral, but closing this chapter in the book of life opens so many more. The family will undoubtedly change in some ways.
My little Granny was the last of the grandparents for Amy and I. I miss her so much already.

So this is what it feels like to have a holiday off from work! In the television news business, you learn not to believe in holidays since you work almost every bloody one. God bless being a state and higher education employee now!
I slept late this morning, and I’ll be firing up the grill around 11. I can’t wait to grill out again. I spent a good chunk of my afternoon cleaning and prepping it yesterday. Then I went to see the new “Indiana Jones” movie. Loved it!
All joking aside, please take time out of your schedule today to remember why we have this holiday. We have lost so many courageous men and women during military battles, and we wouldn’t have our freedom if not for them. I’m an Air Force veteran, but I never fought in a conflict. Thank you to my fellow vets who did.

I’m finally able to update again from my office. Not that I haven’t been able to, but I’ve been incredibly busy at work. I finally have a couple of free minutes to do this.
Not too much is really going on. I’ve got my iPod on, and I’m listening to Linkin Park. It’s nice to have a job where I can do Web work and listen to good music all day. I realllllly don’t miss television.
Speaking of, I’m counting down to Memorial Day. In news, you have to almost beg, kick and scream to get a holiday off. Here? I just sleep in Monday. This is my first holiday I don’t have to ask off for in many, many years. It’s an awesome feeling.

I haven’t updated lately, and I apologize. Not that many people actually read this thing…
I’ve been slammed at work, and I’m so tired when I get home I don’t feel like being on the computer.
Granny isn’t doing well, but she’s hanging on. We went down to see her a little over a week ago, and she’s near death. She’s 91, so this isn’t a surprise. I love that little lady, and I hate to see her go. But… she’ll be in a much better place soon. Please pray my family can cope with this.
Amy and I now have a Nintendo Wii! Amy’s never been one for video games, but she seems to like this interaction. Granted, a pregnant woman can’t do much moving around, so we have a couple of low-key games. It’s amazing to finally see these things on store shelves. Granted, they’re not there the next day…
I guess everything else is just rocking along. I was on the live cam (look in the column to your left) for a good bit today at work. I’m thinking about buying a cam and leaving it in my office. I had my laptop in there today (cam built in), and I had a couple of people drop a note saying they saw me. Trust me, though. It’s not terribly exciting. However, you do get to see my blue office with my auto’d Linkin Park poster on the wall.
A lot of changes will be taking place around here soon. We’re debating modifications to the house and new modes of transportation with an extra kid. I hate being in debt, but we’ve got no other choice right now if we do these things. Believe me… they’re not wants, but needs.
Also this past week, we kissed T-Mobile goodbye. Those jerks locked me into a two-year contract in 2006 without my permission (or asking me, for that matter), then wouldn’t let me out. Last Monday my contract was up. Last Monday night, Verizon Wireless became my new carrier.
T-Mobile can stick that poor customer service right up its nose. I vow never to be a T-Mobile customer again.
Plus an employee discount of 19 percent with Verizon ain’t bad.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but eh… I’ve been busy. I’ve been taking golf lessons for the last couple of weeks, and I’m really enjoying it. Tonight is the last class, so that makes me a little sad. I finally found my swing, and now I’ll have to find more time to practice on my on. It’s been awesome having a coach.
I’m glad West Point Police Chief David Kerr is okay. He was on a traffic stop earlier this week, and the guy drove off. Chief Kerr had his hand in the car and got caught in the seat belt. He was dragged about 90 feet and smacked his head on the pavement. He was released from the hospital the same day, and I got to talk to him that night. He sounded good, but had a major headache thanks to a concussion. In case you don’t remember, Chief Kerr is the gentleman I went hang gliding with last July.
If you’ve noticed, I’ve put a live cam feed on the left side. It’s normally not activated, but will be when I’m at home. I thought about adding a work cam, but eh… it’s really not that exciting here. Granted, home’s not that exciting, either.
I’m just busy at work. I’m working on four different web sites right now, so I need to get back to work. Before I close, please pray for my Granny. We think she’s in her last days, so it’s tough right now.
Here’s to a blessed day!
