Anniversary trip
Amy and I had a great time up at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta. Mom came up and stayed with Alyssa, so that was a nice blessing. We love our girl, but it had been forever since we just got away and took time out for ourselves.
We left Thursday morning and went straight to Turner Field. I had two free tickets to see the Braves, so I reserved them for Friday night against the Mariners. I wanted to see that game because I saw the Mariners and White Sox play two weeks after Safeco Field opened in Seattle. What happened to Friday night’s game? Keep reading…
We spent Thursday swimming, going to the Mall of Georgia and then the laserlight show that night at Stone Mountain Park. It was a very fun day as it was our ninth anniversary. The Mall of Georgia is quite large, but… it’s a mall. There was nothing there that I haven’t ever laid eyes on. Just a bunch of emo kids everywhere.
We got up Friday morning and spent the day at Stone Mountain Park. There was quite a lot to do there. I highly recommend the train ride. It was a five-mile trip around the mountain, and it was relaxing. We thought about taking the skyride to the top, but Amy wasn’t feeling too well (she’s quite pregnant with our second child).
I still had the Braves game on my mind, but after a day in the heat and being pregnant, Amy didn’t feel up to sitting all night in a stadium. Luckily, I found someone at our hotel that could use our tickets, so I gave them to him. At least they weren’t wasted.
Instead, we went to see Get Smart. I loved it! Granted, I love almost anything with Steve Carell. I highly recommend it. After the movie, we went back to the hotel and crashed for the rest of the night.
Saturday morning, we got up and came home. We spent the rest of the day entertaining Granny and Alyssa. Today, Granny left, and we’ve been resting.
It doesn’t sound like we had a blast or did anything exciting, but just getting away by ourselves was awesome. My two ladies are going to South Carolina Wednesday and will be back Friday, so I’ll be resting like I haven’t in a while those couple of nights.
Photos of the trip are in the “photos” section, naturally.
