“‘Dark Knight’ sets weekend record with $155.34M”

I’m proud to say that I saw this twice in two days and helped break the record.  :-)

Speechless after Dark Knight

July 18th, 2008 by Brock

It’s almost 4 a.m. Friday morning.  I just got home from seeing The Dark Knight.  I can’t even begin to tell you how I feel right now.  Yeah, I’m tired, but I just saw one of the greatest movies (not just comic book!) ever.

I was never a fan of Heath Ledger.  The whole brokeback cowboy thing really turned me off, but I will say this.  It’s a crying shame he’s not around to still be a part of this.  What a performance.

Does he top Jack Nicholson?  That’s hard to say.  I’d put them as equal, but in very different lights.  Heath did a fantastic job, as well as the rest of the cast.

I’m too sleepy to write anything else, but for us die-hard, life-long Batman fans (heck, movie fans in general), this movie makes you happy to be alive during these times.

More later!

Looks like my update to the new version of the blog wiped it out.  Enjoy the plain look while I try to repair it.

Dunder Mifflin hit!

July 14th, 2008 by Brock

I was just looking to see where every site visitor is from, and I got a hit from Scranton, PA, on June 22!  Someone from Dunder Mifflin must be checking up on me.  :-)

Ok … maybe not, but it’s funny.  I hope to visit Scranton one day (maybe for an Office convention?)  I’ve been to Pennsylvania about three times, and it’s beautiful country up there.

So my next question is … if you’re willing to answer (e-mail me) … who is visiting me from Savannah, GA?  :-)

What a day

July 8th, 2008 by Brock

This has been an awesome day!  I got to sleep in until 8 a.m., we found out we’re having a boy and I got two hours of quality time alone with my little girl.  Life doesn’t get much better than this, folks.

Amy went to Bible study tonight, so I had to babysit Alyssa.  We went outside and swung on her swingset for a while.  She wanted to see the magnolia tree in our neighbor’s yard (which leaves a massive amount of unwanted leaves in our yard, but he died 2.5 years ago and his kids won’t take care of it), so we went over to look at it. Then it was bath time and off to bed.

She is such a precious little angel.  I can’t imagine having another child around, especially one that I could love just as much.  Little David will be here before we know it, and the (already) noisy house is going to get louder.

My old co-worker, Liz, is also having a boy.  Her due date is one week after ours.  It’s so strange that we’ll have kids that closely together.  She and her husband had some difficulty getting pregnant, and I’m so happy they’ll get the chance to experience having a baby.

I’m tired tonight.  It’s been an eventful day both at home and work.  I think I’ll head to bed a little earlier than usual.
