Opelika Squirrel Revival

March 7th, 2009 by Brock

Just after I woke up today, I took our dog, Chopper, outside for his morning duties.  Chopper is a dachshund, and every other dachshund I’ve owned have been fantastic squirrel hunters.

I thought his skills would be put to the test this morning.  As soon as I opened the door, a squirrel jumped off of our grill, hit our glass door and bounced inside.  You can only imagine what happened next.

It was like the Daytona 500 in here.  Amy, Alyssa and I just watched this thing make laps in our house.  I tried like crazy to get Chopper to chase him, but he just stood there.  So, after trying to corral this thing in our living room, it bolted toward our bedroom.

It pulled down a set of blinds, knocked over our photos and climbed on top of the valences.  It sat there for a few minutes, and we were laughing so hard.  What was Chopper doing?  Sneaking back to the living room.

All of the sudden, the squirrel jumped from the valence and over our bed.  It landed on the floor and ran back towards the living room.  The back door was open, and Chopper was standing in front of it.  The squirrel ran right at Chopper and jumped over him.  Almost as quickly as the squirrel entered the house, he was right back out.

Chopper finally chased him after it jumped over him, but it was too late.  As the late Jerry Clower used to say, that squirrel was, “Haawwww!  Gawn!”  We were left picking up after him, but laughing the entire time.

Chopper, even though we love you, you are in the Dog Hall of Shame.

Happy sprinkler day!

March 6th, 2009 by Brock

Ok, so it’s not an actual day, but the sprinkler guys appear to be finished in each of our offices.  I can finally put my pictures back on the wall and my toys out.

‘Tis a good day indeed.

The costume is underway

March 6th, 2009 by Brock

Got an awesomely huge piece of my Halloween costume in the mail yesterday.  I’ve got some personal touches to add to it, but not many.  Oh, I can’t wait until I can actually talk about it and show it off!
