A time for thanks

November 26th, 2008 by Brock

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we have a lot to be thankful for in our household.

I am thankful, first and foremost, for God and what He has blessed us with.  This year has been full of many changes, and He has been faithful through it all.

Second, I’m so thankful for my wife, Amy.  She is a rock I can lean on, and I love her so very much.  We both have had the biggest change of our lives this year with our son, David.  As I write this, he still isn’t here, but will come into this world by this time next week.

I’m in the O-A News?!?

August 18th, 2008 by Brock

Bwaahaahaahaa!  :-)   Sorry.  I had to.

After years of not being mentioned in any other news outlet (working in TV news kinda keeps the competitors from acknowledging your existence), the Opelika-Auburn News mentioned me, along with Matt and Mike (who’s used to it).

Web cameras give new “insight” to campus life

I just found it funny.  :-)   Thanks for the great article, Brittany!

Good sleepy morning

March 25th, 2008 by Brock

I know it’s been a couple of days (or more) since I updated.  I came into work about 40 minutes early this morning.  It’s so early, I’m sitting here with a few minutes left before I’m actually on the clock.  The only reason I’ve started coming at this time is the better parking spots.  However, I’m more tempted to go back to my normal arrival time.  I’m sleepy, but only because I got less than five hours of sleep last night.

The last six weeks I’ve been working this new job I’ve been in the common area of the office.  I’ve had the office printer in my left ear, but I’m finally in my own office.  It’s not an attractive office because of the paint scheme (there isn’t one), so I’m coming in this weekend to paint it.  It will look a ton better when I’m through with it.  The job is still going very well.  I like it and the people I work with a lot.  They make this worthwhile.

I started redesigning my personal web site a couple of months ago, but haven’t touched it since because I spend all day at work on the computer.  Designing sites for Auburn is a lot of fun, but I like to do different things at home now.  Not too many different things, but a few.

My eyes are crossing, so I’m going to go for now.  I need to get some Coca-Cola in my system (Ding! Product placement!).

Worn out

March 8th, 2008 by Brock

I’ll post more later, but this has been one heck of a week.  Before anything else, my sincere condolences and prayers go out to the families of Lauren Burk and Eve Carson. I pray God gives you comfort during this horrible time.

I thought ending my reporting career would give me a chance to breathe.  It has, but I’ve been on the other side of the media fence at Auburn.  I’ve been helping those in my old career path this week, and it’s been very interesting.

I’ll update later.  For now, I’m just happy there may be some closure for Lauren’s family.  I hope the same happens for Eve.
