Small update

Sorry I haven’t posted since we’ve come home.  I got caught back up in work and a full house.

David is doing well.  We went back to UAB Monday to see the cardiologist, and he was pleased with the progress.  We go back next month, and we could be on-track for another heart cath sometime around September.  We were told of some possibilities after that, but I don’t want to go into specifics.  Please just pray that his right ventricle will increase in size between now and then.

Alyssa is settling back into being at home.  She had a really rough time being away in Birmingham for six weeks.  Being at home is definitely the best medicine.

We are thinking about making some changes at the house and possibly looking for a new one.  It’s amazing how quickly your house shrinks with more kids.

My Xbox 360 was laid to rest tonight thanks to the “Red Ring of Death.”  Piece of junk.  That’s the second time in two years.  I have a Wii, so I really don’t want to invest in another 360.  However, I’ve got so many games for it.  What to do?  I won’t invest in a PS3 because it’s the same price as a 360 Elite, and I have a stand-alone Blu-ray player.  Eh.

My bosses bought me a sweet powerhouse PC last week, and I finally got everything installed on it today at work.  It’s so fast.  I want to cry tears of joy.  :-)

That’s about all I can think of for now.  Please pray I can get time to work on my freelance Web sites.  We need the money (and who doesn’t?)!

Home!

January 5th, 2009 by Brock

After six weeks at UAB, we are finally home tonight!  David is sleeping soundly in his crib for the first time, Alyssa is happily back in her own bed and we are worn out.  However, the cardiologist said this is best place for him to be, so who are we to argue?  There will be more details and photos later, but it’s time to crash.

And yes, I’m going to work tomorrow because I need a break!  :-)

Homeward bound!

January 3rd, 2009 by Brock

david058.jpgIt seems this chapter is drawing to a close tomorrow (Sunday)!  The surgeon and cardiologist came in today, and they are pushing for David to be discharged as soon as possible!  He is doing so well, but we thought it would be a few more days.  We are so thankful and excited!  Please keep praying he does well as he finally gets to experience life outside of a hospital!

Thank you all again for all you’ve done for us!

His own room

January 3rd, 2009 by Brock

david057.jpgJust wanted to pass along more good news before I crash tonight.  David is finally in his regular hospital room, and by the end of Saturday he should only have monitors attached to him.  The final I.V. will be removed soon. This means that it should only be a matter of days now before he’s home for good!  He’s eating very well, and he’s taking all his medication orally.

Please pray for Amy and Alyssa especially during this time.  Amy is having to stay at the hospital and take care of him and other motherly duties, so she won’t be getting much rest.  Alyssa is ready for Mommy to be home.

Thank you for all the continued prayers.  We have cherished and felt them, and praise God, we are nearing the end of this stage in David’s ordeal.  I’ll let you know when the happy day is!

Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2009 by Brock

Here’s to a happy and fruitful new year to you!

In February 2008, I left the world of television news to work with another group of fantastic people at Auburn.  And with Raycom slashing jobs like no one’s business this past month, it’s a good thing I did.  I love all my old and new co-workers and friends.

Also in February, our little Alyssa turned the big 0-2.  :-)   She still amazes us with how well she can hold a conversation and understand so many things.

We also welcomed our son, David, into the world in December.  He’s gone through so much, and he’s still fighting his heart defect.  Thankfully, we’re ending 2008 with positive news and a happy little man.

And Amy, thank you for always being my wonderful wife. We’ll celebrate our 10-year anniversary in June, and I thank God for you every day.

God, thank You for Your blessings this past year.  Please continue to pour out Your grace and mercy on us and our loved ones in 2009.
