Yeah, you read correctly. I went to the Avril Lavigne concert in Atlanta tonight. I had a great time despite the amount of pink and teenage girls everywhere.
Avril has always been one of my guilty pleasures. She released her first single while I was in the radio biz, and I really enjoyed her stuff. I have a list of concerts I want to attend, so I can now scratch this one off.
She is a great singer, especially live. It wasn’t all hyper like many of her videos. She sat down a bit, played piano and drums and didn’t do a whole lot of jumping around.
I had a great seat as you can witness by the pictures and video I’ve uploaded on the photos page. I was almost at the corner of the stage.
One of the best moments for me was when she was doing a wardrobe change. Her band broke into an instruments-only version of “Faint” by Linkin Park. They did an awesome job with it! It made me look even more forward to going back to Projekt Revolution in August!
We watched “Dan In Real Life” last night. I’d been wanting to see it, so we finally got around to it. I really enjoyed it (as I do most everything with Steve Carell).
The only thing neither of us didn’t like is how Hollywood makes parents look weak against their children. Dan looked like a real wimp in dealing with his three girls, especially the middle one and especially toward the end. That’s a bad message when kids have the upper hand on the parent and the adult does nothing about it.
Just a little parenting observation, but we really did like the movie. I highly recommend it. It’s funny, and there’s not really any bad language in it.
Now it’s time for the next Steve Carell movie… “Get Smart!” YES!
