Southern snow day

March 1st, 2009 by Brock

We don’t get a lot of snow this far south, so you can imagine our delight when it kept snowing all day! Our daughter really enjoyed it!  Photos can be found here, and the video is below.

Small update

Sorry I haven’t posted since we’ve come home.  I got caught back up in work and a full house.

David is doing well.  We went back to UAB Monday to see the cardiologist, and he was pleased with the progress.  We go back next month, and we could be on-track for another heart cath sometime around September.  We were told of some possibilities after that, but I don’t want to go into specifics.  Please just pray that his right ventricle will increase in size between now and then.

Alyssa is settling back into being at home.  She had a really rough time being away in Birmingham for six weeks.  Being at home is definitely the best medicine.

We are thinking about making some changes at the house and possibly looking for a new one.  It’s amazing how quickly your house shrinks with more kids.

My Xbox 360 was laid to rest tonight thanks to the “Red Ring of Death.”  Piece of junk.  That’s the second time in two years.  I have a Wii, so I really don’t want to invest in another 360.  However, I’ve got so many games for it.  What to do?  I won’t invest in a PS3 because it’s the same price as a 360 Elite, and I have a stand-alone Blu-ray player.  Eh.

My bosses bought me a sweet powerhouse PC last week, and I finally got everything installed on it today at work.  It’s so fast.  I want to cry tears of joy.  :-)

That’s about all I can think of for now.  Please pray I can get time to work on my freelance Web sites.  We need the money (and who doesn’t?)!

Your bitterness is beneath you

November 8th, 2008 by Brock

Wow … Since my alma mater Alabama has been in a slump these last few years, not much has been said by friends and cohorts.  But let my boys put LSWho out of its misery and win the SEC West, and they come out of the woodworks!

You know what?  I don’t talk a lot of trash, but you haven’t had a reason to be bitter in a while, and I haven’t had a reason to rejoice.  So …

ROLL TIDE TOLL!!!!  SEC WEST CHAMPS!

This song is just six words long

September 16th, 2008 by Brock

You really need to be a “Weird Al” fan to appreciate the title above.

Yes, the blog still lives.  It’s just been a long, hectic week.  Lots of work and football games last week, a birthday visit to Mom’s over the weekend, two football games already this week and we’ve been treating a sick little girl tonight.  She’s got a small virus that causing a little bit of fever and other sickly things, but she’s asleep and should pull out of it soon.

Speaking of our beautiful children, there’s no word yet on David.  We go back to Birmingham in less than two weeks to make plans and get a check-up.  Please keep praying for his little heart.

Amy’s birthday is this weekend, and family is coming into town.  All the siblings will be around Friday, but I won’t get to see them since I’ll get off from work and then run the game clock in the next county.  I’ll see the ‘rents-in-law Saturday, though.

One cool thing about working the Auburn-Enterprise varsity game last week is I got to see my ol’ band director and buddy, Rob Grice.  I spent several years under his care, and he was one of my groomsmen in our wedding.  He’s two years away from retirement, but he’ll be busier than ever.  He’s doing quite well as a worldwide composer and writer.

Well, it’s bedtime.  Lots of stuff to do tomorrow at work, and I’ve got to finish up a freelance project.  I’ll be able to breathe a little easier when I do.
