Sorry for the lack of updates

August 1st, 2008 by Brock

I’ve been very busy, not only at work, but also on a side project.  I’m not saying a lot about it right now, but it’s certainly an answered prayer.  I’m very happy about doing this job, and it will be very rewarding.

Not much else to talk about.  Lane Dogg and I are heading to Projekt Revolution Sunday to see Linkin Park again.  I can’t wait for that!  I’m also thinking about taking a couple of days off after that to go see “The Dark Knight” in IMAX.

Late for bed.  I’m going to be groggy tomorrow!

July Fourth weekend

July 6th, 2008 by Brock

It’s been a pretty good weekend so far.  Needless to say, this was the first Fourth of July I’ve had off since before college.  I don’t envy those I left behind in the news business.

Friday, I slept in a little, but then it was time to fire up the grill!  Amy wanted me to cook up quite a bit of meat so we could eat well for a few days.  I grilled steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers and pork chops.  All quite tasty, if you don’t mind me saying.

I spent that afternoon in the shed.  We’re having a yard sale this upcoming Saturday, so I found some stuff before the thunder and rain settled in.  I got out there this morning to finish it, and thankfully I did. Sunday brings church, climbing in the attic to find more stuff to sell and a haircut in the evening.

This is basically my last free weekend this month.  My buddy Jimmy will be here after the yard sale.  I’m going to a Braves game on the 19th with old friends from WTVM and my birthday (July 26th) will be spent back in Atlanta at a Drum Corps International show at the Georgia Dome.  Unfortunately, the corps I marched with in 1991-’92, Southwind, folded a couple of years ago, so they won’t be there.

And let’s not forget the weekend after that… August 3rd…  Linkin Park @ Projekt Revolution!  Holy moly… I just realized I’ll be in Atlanta three weekends in a row…

Oh, geez… then another weekday Braves game with the guys from work a week and a half after that.  Dang… I must love Hotlanta!

Anniversary trip

June 22nd, 2008 by Brock

Amy and I had a great time up at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta.  Mom came up and stayed with Alyssa, so that was a nice blessing.  We love our girl, but it had been forever since we just got away and took time out for ourselves.

We left Thursday morning and went straight to Turner Field.  I had two free tickets to see the Braves, so I reserved them for Friday night against the Mariners.  I wanted to see that game because I saw the Mariners and White Sox play two weeks after Safeco Field opened in Seattle.  What happened to Friday night’s game?  Keep reading…

Nine years

June 18th, 2008 by Brock

Tomorrow is Thursday, our ninth wedding anniversary!  I still believe to this day I am the most blessed man to have Amy.  She is a wonderful wife, mother and best friend.  If you’ve met her, you know what I mean.

We’re heading to the Atlanta area for a few days.  Mom is house and babysitting for us.  I’m really looking forward to some alone time and not worrying about anything.

I finished two projects at work today, so I don’t have to think about those.  As for everything else, not much is happening.  I completed a huge video project for church, and Amy delivered the DVD today.

You know, when I sat down to write this, I thought I had a lot more to say.  I guess I don’t, but things are going well.  I’m looking forward to sleeping past 6 a.m. tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to seeing “Get Smart” Friday night.

I’ll write more if I can think of anything else, but it’s time to just relax.  :)

Memorial Day

May 26th, 2008 by Brock

So this is what it feels like to have a holiday off from work! In the television news business, you learn not to believe in holidays since you work almost every bloody one. God bless being a state and higher education employee now! :-)

I slept late this morning, and I’ll be firing up the grill around 11. I can’t wait to grill out again. I spent a good chunk of my afternoon cleaning and prepping it yesterday. Then I went to see the new “Indiana Jones” movie. Loved it!

bp_usaf.jpgAll joking aside, please take time out of your schedule today to remember why we have this holiday. We have lost so many courageous men and women during military battles, and we wouldn’t have our freedom if not for them. I’m an Air Force veteran, but I never fought in a conflict. Thank you to my fellow vets who did.
